Without financial statements, tyranny
I recently wrote to the head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office to complain that the GAO continues to report about computer mismanagement and financial mismangement and that Congress continues to ignore the GAO reports.
Over the past 30 years, federal systems accountants who were assigned the job of implementing "state-of-the-art" computer systems have wasted many billions of dollars, built a tangled mess of computer systems and created a playground for computer hackers. Congress passed the Chief Information Officers Act, but did not address computer mismangement.
In addition, Congress ignored the 1992 GAO report, "Financial Management Issues," the opening statement of which warns, "Widespread financial mangement weaknesses are crippling the ability of our leaders to effectively run the federal government." The report also points to the 1990 Chief Financial Officers Act as the solution.
This commingling of funds by the Treasury Department explains why the American people no longer receive financial statements from our federal goverment.
Taxation without financial statements is tyranny. Join a tax revolt movement by voting against all incumbents who seek reelection.
